Seoul (AFP) - Iraq signed a $1.1 billion deal Thursday to buy 24 multi-role light fighters from South Korea, officials said, in what will be the Asian nation's biggest arms export.
Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) said it would deliver the T-50IQ, a variant of its T-50 supersonic aircraft, to Baghdad between 2015 and 2016, under the terms of the deal signed in Seoul.
The company also said it expected to sign an additional $1.0 billion deal in 2014 to provide parts, equipment and pilot training for 20 years.

กองทัพอิรักยังมีการจัดหาอาวุธเพื่อฟื้นฟูกองทัพยุคใหม่หลังการถอนกำลังทหารสหรัฐฯออกไปอย่างต่อเนื่อง
ล่าสุดรัฐบาลอิรักได้ลงนามสัญญาจัดหาเครื่องบินฝึกไอพ่น T-50IQ จาก KAI เกาหลีใต้จำนวน 24เครื่องวงเงิน $1.1 billion
และอาจจะมีการลงนามสัญญาเพิ่มเติมอีก $1 billion ในปี 2014 สำหรับชิ้นส่วนอะไหล่ อุปกรณ์เพิ่มเติมและการฝึกนักบินเป็นเวลา 20ปี
โดยทาง KAI จะส่งมอบ T-50IQ ให้กองทัพอากาศอิรักได้ในช่วงปี 2015-2016 ซึ่งนับเป็นการส่งออกอาวุธครั้งใหญ่สุดครั้งหนึ่งในรอบปีนี้ของเกาหลีใต้
T-50IQ นั้นชนะการแข่งขันการจัดหาเครื่องบินฝึกไอพ่นแบบใหม่ของอิรักเหนือ Yak-130, Hawk 128 และ L-159 ครับ
