these specialized Airmen and Royal Thai Air Force Combat Controllers direct
combat aircraft onto targets, coordinating high-end air-to-ground strikes.
Ground Control Interception (GCI): The eyes in the sky. These battle
management experts monitor radar systems from command centers to track
airborne threats and guide friendly aircraft to intercept them.
Air Operations & Air Defense: The strategic backbone. This layer
coordinates long-range ground-based air defense systems and target
engagements to protect critical assets from incoming threats.
By training face-to-face across different continents and ranges, these teams
build the seamless interoperability required for complex joint force
operations worldwide.

helicopter from the New York ANG's 106th Rescue Wing provides close air
support training for Washington ANG 116th ASOS TACPs and RTAF Combat
Controllers at Warren Grove Range, N.J.
2. Controlling the Strike: 116th ASOS TACPs and RTAF Combat
Controllers operate communications gear to coordinate a simulated air
support mission at Warren Grove Range, N.J.
3. Command and Control (GCI): Airmen from the Western Air Defense
Sector (WADS), Washington ANG, and the RTAF synch up radar operations during
ground control interception training at Camp Murray.
4. Ground-Based Air Defense: U.S. Army Lt. Col. David Nash briefs RTAF
partners on ground-based air defense systems and intercept techniques at Don

Hanwha Ocean proposed its Ocean-40F frigate designs as the second and third
Bhumibol Adulyadej-class guided missile frigates, the first of class FFG-471
HTMS Bhumibol Adulyadej in commissioned since 2019.
Royal Thai Navy Reaffirms Transparent Frigate Procurement Process; Final
Decision Nearing Completion Under Integrity Pact Oversight
Rear Admiral Paraj Ratanajaipan, Spokesperson of the Royal Thai Navy, stated
that in response to comments circulating on social media regarding the
evaluation and selection process for the Royal Thai Navy's High-Performance
Frigate Procurement Project, the Royal Thai Navy would like to clarify that
the evaluation process is currently in its final stage and is approaching
conclusion.
The relevant committees have conducted the evaluation in strict compliance
with the criteria, conditions, and requirements specified in the Terms of
Reference (TOR) at every stage of the process.
The evaluation is based solely on the qualifications and proposals submitted
by the six bidders that successfully met the preliminary requirements. The
assessment follows an evidence-based evaluation approach, relying
exclusively on verifiable information, documents, and supporting evidence in
accordance with the criteria established in the TOR. This ensures that the
decision-making process remains fair, objective, and fully auditable.
The Royal Thai Navy places significant emphasis on assessing the vessel's
operational capabilities, weapons systems, support systems, technology
transfer provisions, domestic defence industry development, and the overall
benefits that Thailand will receive. All considerations are conducted within
a clearly defined evaluation framework.
Furthermore, throughout the evaluation process, the project has been subject
to observation under the Integrity Pact mechanism. This framework allows
representatives from the public sector and civil society to participate in
monitoring and observing key stages of the project. Such external oversight
complements the government's existing regulatory and supervisory mechanisms,
thereby strengthening public confidence that the entire process is being
conducted transparently, fairly, and in accordance with good governance
principles.
The Royal Thai Navy Spokesperson further noted that although the evaluation
process is now in its final stage and nearing completion, the Royal Thai
Navy is not yet in a position to disclose the results. The outcome must
first proceed through the established government approval process and be
submitted to the authorized authorities for consideration and approval
through the appropriate chain of command before any official announcement
can be made. This is to ensure full compliance with applicable laws,
government regulations, and principles of good governance in public
procurement.
The Royal Thai Navy remains confident that a process conducted with
diligence, transparency, and oversight from multiple stakeholders will
result in the procurement of a frigate that best meets operational
requirements while delivering maximum benefit to the nation. Beyond
enhancing national defence capabilities and the operational readiness of the
Royal Thai Navy, this frigate procurement project also represents a
significant opportunity to advance Thailand's defence industry, facilitate
technology transfer, create employment opportunities, attract domestic
investment, and contribute to the country's long-term economic development.

Swap Weapons for a Day:

Jungles, Chinese and Thai army troops formed mixed teams to train on such
subjects as combat casualty care, operating procedures for unmanned

Strike 2026 is the eighth iteration of its kind between the two armies,
which aims to continuously deepen bilateral friendship and cooperation, and
enhance the troops' capabilities in joint counter-terrorism operations.

Jungles, Chinese and Thai army troops formed mixed teams to train on such
subjects as combat casualty care, operating procedures for unmanned
equipment, and live-fire shooting.
Strike 2026 is the eighth iteration of its kind between the two armies,
which aims to continuously deepen bilateral friendship and cooperation, and
enhance the troops' capabilities in joint counter-terrorism operations.
The Royal Thai Army (RTA) and the Australian Army concluded the combined
training exercise Chapel Gold 2026 from 18 to 29 June 2026, with held by 2nd
Infantry Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment King's Guard, 2nd Infantry

Commander of the First Army Area Presides over the Closing Ceremony of
Exercise Chapel Gold 2026: Strengthening Thai–Australian Armoured Infantry
Cooperation, Enhancing Combat Readiness, and Reinforcing Regional Security
29 June 2026 – Lieutenant General Worayos Luangsuwan, Commander of the
First Army Area, visited the training area and presided over the closing
ceremony of Exercise Chapel Gold 2026, a bilateral exercise between the
Royal Thai Army and the Australian Army.
Major General Ash Collingburn, Commander of the 1st Division of the
Australian Army, attended the ceremony as the representative of the
Australian Army. The ceremony was held at the Artillery Center Live Fire
Range, Ban Di Lang, Phatthana Nikhom District, Lopburi Province.
This year's Exercise Chapel Gold 2026 was assigned by the Royal Thai Army
to the First Army Area, with the 2nd Infantry Division, King's Guard
serving as the lead training formation. Personnel from the 2nd Infantry
Regiment, King's Guard trained alongside soldiers from the Australian
Army's Rifle Company Butterworth 148 (RCB 148).
The exercise focused on tactical operations from platoon to battalion
level and was conducted in Prachin Buri and Lopburi Provinces from 18–29
June 2026. Key training activities included combined operations with
armoured vehicles, jungle survival, defensive operations and battle
position construction, military operations in urban terrain (MOUT), and
live-fire exercises.
In addition to military training aimed at enhancing operational capability
and combat readiness, the First Army Area also organized cultural exchange
activities to strengthen mutual understanding between the two armies.
These included demonstrations of Muay Thai, visits to the Grand Palace,
and friendly football matches.
Exercise Chapel Gold 2026 further strengthened the longstanding friendship
and military cooperation between the Royal Thai Army and the Australian
Army, fostering greater confidence, interoperability, and collaboration
across all areas of defence, while contributing to peace, stability, and
security in the region.
