"The type certification test of CHD620V16H6 diesel engine was successfully
completed"
Henan Diesel Engine Co., Ltd (HND) subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Industry
Corporation (CSIC) was passing certification for National Military Standard
(GJB: Guo-jia Jun-yong) of its CHD620V16H6 diesel generator engine on 27 July
2023, HND publish photo of certification ceremony on its website
(http://www.hnd.com.cn) on 8 August 2023.
The CHD620V16H6 is variant of HND's CHD 620 diesel generator engine for
Submarine used, replaced the MTU16V396SE84 that Germany refused to export to
China since 2020 for fitting on export variants of People’s Liberation Army
Navy (PLAN) Type 039B SSK included one of Royal Thai Navy (RTN) S26T submarine
and 8 of Pakistan Navy (PN) Hangor-class submarines.
RTN commanders also said to local media that additional to supporting S26T
Submarine's spare parts for 8 years, China will not compensate any 1st S26T
Submarine delivery delay to 2027, and there are no option for free donation
ex-PLAN Type 039A Yuan or Type 039G Song submarines but will be offer to sell
Type 035 Ming at a friendly price except extra cost to be paid for spares,
support and training.
