preparedness"
The government's proposal: The government is authorized to enter into an
agreement with Thailand for the sale of up to 12 JAS 39 E/F and associated
air defense systems.
The reasons for the government's proposal: Sweden has a long-term
cooperation with Thailand in the area of air defense. Thailand operates,
among other things, JAS 39 C/D and Swedish radar reconnaissance aircraft.
The sale of JAS 39 C/D has taken place as a bilateral sale by the Swedish
state. Thailand is to transfer 12 older fighter aircraft of the F-16
type.
The procurement must take place as an intergovernmental transaction. In
order to satisfy Thailand's demands for an intergovernmental deal, it is
proposed that the Riksdag authorize the government to enter into an
agreement with Thailand for the sale of up to 12 JAS 39 E/F and associated
air defense systems.
This means that the Swedish state undertakes to order and deliver combat
aircraft and other offered equipment and operations. The revenue from the
sale must cover the state's costs. (page 53)
The Royal Thai Air Force announced its selection of Gripen E/F on 28 August
2024. Lockheed Martin also still offer its F-16V Block 70/72 for RTAF in
statement to local media on 18 October 2024.

The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) has signed a support contract with Diehl
Defence with respect to the IRIS-T short-range air-to-air missile system.
The IRIS-T is a short-range, all‐aspect infrared-homing missile that can
travel at speeds in excess of Mach 3 and has a maximum range of 25 km.

Update: Thailand awards IRIS-T support contract to Diehl Defence
A Diehl Defence spokesperson told Janes on 23 October that the contract
became “effective immediately and will remain effective until late
2027”.
The RTAF has already integrated the IRIS-T with its primary combat aircraft,
the Lockheed Martin F-16A/B Fighting Falcon, the Saab JAS 39 Gripen, and the
Northrop F-5 Tiger II following the type's upgrade to the F-5TH Super Tigris
standard.

fourteen T-50THs, designed for training, search-and-rescue, escort, and

The Royal Thai Army (RTA)'s acquisition of eight AH-6i Little Bird light
attack helicopters will allow the service to replace its obsolete AH-1F

According to a Boeing spokesperson, the helicopter was “inducted into the
production flight testing process in the second quarter of 2024. The
remaining seven aircraft are in various stages of production now. We are
working ... to move the aircraft down the line and through the test flight
process,” the spokesperson added on 7 October.
The company did not specify when the pilot training programme would start,
deferring the matter to the RTA and the US Army.

Thailand's Thai Defence Industry (TDI) (joint venture between Thai private
firm Chaiseri metal & rubber Co. Ltd. and Ministry of Defence of
Thailand agency's Defence Technology Institute (DTI)) and Pakistan Heavy
Industry Taxila (HIT) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on sell 100
Chaiseri First Win 4x4 wheeled armored vehicles with technology
transfer to production at HIT on 18 September 2024. Royal Thai Armed Forces
(RTARF) announced on 11 October 2024.
The inclusion of a transfer of production technology clause in the agreement
likely enables HIT to manufacture the First Win vehicles locally. It is
likely that Chaiseri will produce a small initial batch of vehicles before
HIT delivers the remaining units to the Pakistan Army.
The First Win vehicle has been built by Chaiseri in several configurations.
The specific variation of the vehicle to be procured by Pakistan has not
been disclosed.
